Klavier Gavin's Christmas List
Greed
Edgeworth
Issei
Kurt
Azula
Himiko
Kirino
Morrigan
Roze
Greed: Because Greed probably wouldn’t accept a real one from him, Klavier bought him a remote control Lamborghini to harass people with and this leather wrist band
Edgeworth: Whether he plays or not it makes a nice center piece on any table so Klavier got him this rustic Chess Set and this Cup and Saucer set
Issei: Klavier knows nothing about shopping for a Monk, he could have gone the Greed route…but graciously he did not. He got him this Inner Peace folk painting instead for meditative purposes…maybe?
Kurt: He knows he’s something of a musical enthusiast so he got him a charango guitar, if for nothing else than to appreciate its cultural significance
Azula: For Azula this Forest Flame necklace, because she’s still the first person he harassed on the community
Himiko: He got her this decorative mask, its mystique reminds him of her
Kirino: He knows she’s a writer so he has this book for her called the Elements of Style and and this colorful little necklace
Morrigan: This Incan Princess necklace…because he figured it would go nice with her eyes
Roze: These Snow Blossom earrings

Arakawa once drew a picture of the anime1 Homunculi sitting around doing family things. Greed was happily spaced out playing some video game with a mushroom. I wish I could find it again.
By the way, how has the manga reading been going, if you've had any time what with finals and the like. Thoughts? Etc.

Oh, that would be an interesting picture, Klavier needs to get Greed into an arcade.
Oh, I finished it a while back, it was so amazing, but I was sad when Greed finally died, and of course he lied it was awesome...but he died. I knew it was coming, but I was still all like shit...and I'm tipsy so if I sound a little fffff...I'm buzzed.

I was pretty let down with the ending myself, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Sounds like you're celebrating the holidays the right way! I'm sober at the office on a 12 hour shift so I'll just enjoy your little spurt of fffff.

For me it was Greed's death that was a let down, he was supposed to survive the cockroaches XD but it was a bit anticlimactic, but the overall was quite good. The one thing I could never quite wrap my mind around was the Ed and Winry relationship. I like both of the characters, but I did not understand their love one little bit, and you see in the end that they are together with kids and it's like ooooookay...it was just kind of strange to me.
P.S. So sorry you had to be sober and in the office on Christmas eve ;A; hope your Christmas is a lot jollier.

The lie and die thing was a cool concept but, and this is my thought on most things after the Briggs arc, sloppily executed. Him having the ability (be it magic, alchemical or even just knowledge of chemical structure) to become charcoal was a "wait, what?" moment. Ed, an alchemist, has been inspired by him and has manipulated his structure with alchemy but Greed himself is neither an alchemist nor a chemist. Plus, the entire time he and Ling are struggling and having that conversation while Father is weakened and sucking them in, nobody, not Ed, not the military masses standing around, decides to take a shot at the big bad enemy to finish him off? My overall impression is that the authoress was just trying to get rid of him because that'd be a major loose end in Ling's story if he were still sharing a body.
I never got the feeling of anything but a big brotherly protection/debt thing towards Winry from Ed, rather than a real bond or understanding, but manga Winry honestly has no other goals or much of anything to her besides Ed, so short of wedded family bliss, there'd be no way to push the HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY ending for her. The alternative was "and then she kept waiting and disconnected like she's spent the entire series doing." Considering the first anime ended with her as an independent woman whose final line was about how she wasn't waiting on Ed anymore, I can see Arakawa not wanting to lose to that. The fact that Winry says "Boys who stay home are boring!" and on *the very next page* we're shown Ed at home with 2.5 kids comes off like a subtle gag panel. Sadly, I don't think that was the goal.
The real kicker is that there are more pages devoted to their engagement than there are to resolving actual political and philosophical issues brought up as major points in the series.
I'm back in for another 12 hour shift tonight. So please put up with my hum-bug manga rant and enjoy an extra shot of egg nog or whatnot for buzzed Christmas joy on my behalf! Actually, last night I drew on a sleeping client's face and made other people do the same, so it's not as horrible as it sounds...

Yeah the last portion of the series seemed a little rushed and some things didn't seem as well thought out as they were in the beginning. I think the manga could have gone for a few more volumes at least.
Yeah, Winry and Ed was definitely a weird spot for me, I guess they might have become more affectionate during the time skip at the end, but I think some of the relationship development could have been shown during the manga as well. You didn't see much apart from Winry contemplating the size of Ed's back and the occasional offhanded remarks from other characters creating fluffy blushy feelings in Winry or Ed. But there did seem to be a lot of dept/protection between the characters and that superseded whatever depth that was being implied.
Feel free to rant all you want, I would be too if I had to work Christmas eve and Christmas \o/

I'm having a harder time with the fact that Olivier can grant a full pardon to an ex-mass murdering terrorist because he's reformed. Or that Truth let Ed pick his own sacrifice this time and this time only. Or why it decided to eat Father at the last minute after Ed punched him in the face (besides as a cheap excuse to keep Ed's hands clean of killing). Or why Roy must had *the* cleanest trip through the Gate ever, as the only one not to have something physically ripped off. Or the fact that the Flame Alchemist, slayer of Ishballans, was put in charge of their reconstruction; it makes sense for his character arc, but I'd think that'd be a political disaster. Or that that war Kimblee started with Drachma conveniently disappeared without a trace. Or...
Eh? This isn't a Christmas rant at all... Actually in terms of Christmas, work aside, I'm enjoying myself pretty well, but thanks for the sympathy! Hope yours is going well!

Lol that's quite a few loose ends, some of them I never really thought about.
I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! I did the usual, woke up early because the nephews were doing their early morning bedroom door Christmas drive bys, did the presents and the dinner thing. It was good lol.
