[As the camera cuts on, the scene that plays out is a highly unusual one and more than a little uncharacteristic where Klavier is concerned.

What’s highly unusual about the situation is that Klavier is presently in an ICU unit with a large glass window separating the viewer from the events inside of the room and preventing them from fully understanding what is going on. Even if you could hear anything it would take a really adept ear to pick up on the frenzied muddle of conversation.

So what is Klavier doing in ICU? Well presently it’s uncertain why, but there’s a struggle going on between the doctors, nurses and everyone’s favorite ex-rocker/prosecutor who they are trying to pin to the bed. Unfortunately Klavier seems to be going out of his way to give his caretakers a hard time. One of the nurses, male, has the misfortune of putting his face in the path of the prosecutor’s fist resulting in what would probably be a nasty black-eye later. Several other nurses are thrown off or knocked out of the way during the struggle.

In between slugging it out with the hospital faculty he is further hampering them by ripping off his electrodes and pulling out his IV until he’s forcefully slammed down and his wrists and ankles are restrained. A nurse can be seen jabbing a needle into his arm which is obviously a sedative of some sort because it doesn’t take long for his body to go limp and the struggling to cease.

Not much can be seen afterward because blinds are closed, but there is a small queue of people ready to harass the doctor once he steps out into the hallway. This may illuminate the situation a little bit, but for the most part the following conversation is somewhat vague:]

So, what’s wrong with him?

We’re not really sure at this point; he has a laundry list of symptoms including light sensitivity, confusion, delirium, convulsions, headaches, tachycardia, and there could be others. It seems consistent with the other patients who were at The Alinea...we’re still trying to find the common source…

You know, there were some important diplomats from Europe there, I understand the Minister’s wife was also…

You think someone did this on purpose?

It could be. You think Prosecutor Gavin will be up to the task if this turns out to be a CI?

We don’t even know who the criminal is if there is one.

Or why those people got sick, for all we know the monkfish could have been bad.

Or if Prosecutor Gavin will even feel up to the task.

We’re getting a little ahead of ourselves, we have to find out what’s wrong with the patients first and then you can determine whether it was an accident or if there was some kind of criminal activity involved...

[The feed cuts off with the ongoing conspiracy and a doctor who is being completely dismissed.]

I'm not sure if I can get pissed at you for an almost-lie like that or not.

What part is the lie?

An almost lie. That kinda over-optimism. Maybe when some people ask they just wanna be comforted, but I seriously need to know what I'm dealing with here! Even if you don't wanna think about it, you're the only one who can give me any kinda answer, so if you just wanna think positive, that's...

That's the problem, I don't know what I'm dealing with and it's just me here so if I wasn't optimistic then I would just be weak. How could I possibly show you such a weak expression again and I'm not that weak. The burden is all mine and I'm an adult so I can deal with that. Wouldn't you say I'm holding up famously, Herr?

But what if you're not really holding up that well! It's that faking thing I can't stand! If you have even a little energy, you can lie and fake... that's yer natural thing. So are you feeling as all right as you're actin' or are you feeling just all right enough to fake it?!

And what if I'm not okay? There's nothing wrong with keeping an optimistic outlook, I'm sure of one thing and that is I'm going to live. Working my self up or dissolving into tears is a waste of my valuable energy, and the stress will only make it worse. Especially since I don't know what the end result will be...that's why I'm going to be under observation for a little while.

[Nabs an ashtray off of the table to jam another cigarette in it; he's been doing two to three an hour.] Che!

Fine. Be optimistic if that's what's good for you. I told you to do the getting better part, so that's just following orders... But if you're not gonna be able to do at least that much, you should let me know. I'm pretty damned amazing, you know. Do you know how many geniuses I own? I've got a crack team working on immor-fucking-tality, so putting someone on task fixing you if you can't do it yourself, even with your money and your doctors... that'd practically be nothing for someone as awesome as me.

Well that's something else then, to know that if something happens, Herr Greed has his own resources he's willing to share with me. I have plenty of reasons to be optimistic...and have I ever told you, optimistic people live longer. That's the one thing you should cut me a break on whether it's fake or not, huh? I'm young and I'm strong too, I have a lot going for me.

Yeah. I said I'd take it easy today. I got a little hard on you just now, huh?

[Klavier looks at Greed very seriously for several seconds before busting out laughing.]

Ah. And now you've snapped again. So much for that good moment.

I'm sorry it's just, you don't normally get a little hard on me, Herr...ah...well I'm not entirely gone am I? That was just amusing...but you know just about anything can be amusing.

You're fine. You're definitely just fine.

Haaaa...come on, that was a little funny. Anyway I'm pretty mellow right now so it's okay...I know you're only feeling concerned.

Nothin' to be concerned about. Besides wonderin' how long you're gonna have to go without gettin' off, if the nurses are afraid of ya.

[Thanks for mentioning it, now he shifts uncomfortably on the bed and holds up his shackled wrists helplessly.]

[Greed takes this opportunity to lean in close to the camera, brows raised suggestively, eyes half-lidded, and using a well practiced "troll Issei's voice crush" tone.] Want me to try 'n work you up instead?

[Klavier laughs, it's got a a nervous edge to it that implies that he is a bit unsure, but he still has some confidence] Herr, you know that would take a lot of seduction, right? I'm not new at this.

We got time. You're not goin' anywhere.

E...eh...that's true, I'm not going anywhere, but you're a hands on guy.

This ain't about me, it's about you. You're the one who needs a little pick me up.

Ha...but I can't see you doing something like that, Herr. Don't force yourself.

Hn... Don't you know? If it's you, [Greed nabs the camera and brings it with him to keep a close view while sprawling one arm over the back of the couch and getting comfortable. He can't look at the screen while trying to sex the camera, but for someone in a low-tech age, he's pretty adept at talking to a portable piece of machinery as if it were a live audience member.] I can become a visual guy real easy.

[The only thing keeping Klavier from getting too anxious over this situation is the steadfast belief that Greed is pulling his chain for a rise] That's not...you're screwing around, of course...I told you I'm feeling optimistic.

Even when I'm screwing around, I don't lie. Last time you were feelin' sick... [He shifts to lie back on the arm of the couch, holding the camera above, hoping to get a few memories of the view from on top at that time working in his favor.] ...Didn't I take good care of you?
